Health & Wellness (B.e.s.t Model)

Why we teach Health & Wellness

Our wellness course series is built on the B.E.S.T. model, which emphasizes four interconnected areas of personal well‑being needed during recovery:

  • Body – physical health, movement, and nutrition
  • Environment – creating surroundings that support stability and growth
  • Self (Mental Health) – emotional regulation, stress management, and self‑awareness
  • Social Ties – building healthy relationships and supportive connections.

This holistic framework helps participants understand how each area influences their overall wellness and long‑term recovery.

Course Activities and Learning Components

Throughout the series, participants engage in a variety of hands‑on and experiential activities, including:

 Physical Exercise

Participants take part in structured physical activities designed to improve strength, endurance, and overall health. Movement is used not only for fitness, but also as a tool for stress reduction and emotional balance.

Group Challenges

Team‑based challenges encourage cooperation, communication, and problem‑solving. These activities help participants build trust, strengthen social ties, and experience the benefits of positive peer support.

 Health & Nutrition Education

Participants learn the fundamentals of good nutrition, how food choices affect mood and energy, and how to build sustainable, healthy eating habits that support recovery.

 Stress Management Techniques

The course introduces practical strategies such as mindfulness, grounding exercises, breathing techniques, and healthy coping skills. These tools help participants manage stress, reduce cravings, and maintain emotional stability.
